And it's good too!
I tried vegie chicken with mango ($10)- mock chicken stirfried with probably 2 fresh mangos cut into large chunks and straw mushrooms with a slightly sweet soy based sauce. Very fresh and good. It was perfect with a little hot chili oil and black soy sauce.
Tried a "hand roll with mayonnaise" ($1.85) - it seemed to be lettuce, ginger, sesame seeds, and some other things rolled in a seaweed cone - really good!
Meals come with a pot of good tea and brown or white rice.
Happy Family Restaurant is a big, open dining room with lots of big round tables filled with 5 or 10 happy family members or business associates on a Friday night. A little plain, decorated with some red lanterns, dragons, phoenixes... the usual. The emphasis is on the food.
You'll recognize the building, it's upstairs in a strip mall that looks like a palace or something, with about a million other Chinese restaurants. Check out the store downstairs with about a hundred outrageously priced types of dried ginseng.
