Well today was the day we finally got to leave the ghost town of
Halong Bay. It really has been a disappointment
overall. It probably is a lovely area when the sun is shining and there are
loads of people around, but for our experience over Christmas time, it really
has been quite disappointing…

It was my first time in Vietnam and I was fortunate enough to fly there for free via Singapore Airlines because my officemate and I had to meet the Vietnamese clients for a new project. For three straight nights, I was totally not in the mood to step out of my hotel room, which actually …

Vietnam and Cambodia are really affordable to everyone.
I have found the people to be very friendly in both countries.
I visisted Saigon and did all the side trips (Megkong Delta, Chi Chu tunnels, Cat Tien national Park), Hanoi including the Halong Bay trip and Sapa.
In Cambodia I unfortunately only did Siem Reap with 4 temples of which Angkor Wat is the most famous.
I loved it and would do it again.

In the period of one month, I've traveled 28,088 km; 14,363 km by flight and 13,725 km overland. I have to thank my English e-pal for inspiring me to find a place to go for the winter. Without him, this journey wouldn't had happened. The initial plan was to travel on my own, told a couple of friends about it, and two of them decided to tag along.. but not before calling me crazy for doing this trip in winter :)

The tropical storm brewing over Hanoi was causing havoc with air traffic in and out of the airport. As we sat on board the Vietnamese Airlines Airbus we began our descent into the ai…

*This entry is backdated*I left Melbourne in the morning, and got to Saigon at about 3.30pm. Going through customs in Saigon was really confusing. We left Saigon at about 6.00pm, and got to Hanoi at about 8.00pm. When I got to Hanoi, there was a guy holding a sign with my name on it, kind of. I…

Boarded the plane from Hue in tee and shorts and wondered why people on the plane are all in sweaters and jackets and everything wool. The moment I got off the plane...the wind!
Went looking for my friend who came to join me in this second leg of travel. Found him and went straight to the hostel.…

Our three week trip through Singapore and Vietnam. This was my second trip to Vietnam so we took it at a much more leisurely pace. Minimal words in this blog - I let the pictures tell the story.
