Certainly not as extensive as I would have had it but the best I could do and still have a job when I got home. Four weeks in South-East Asia was once again with Eastern Michigan University, Cambodia was independant with most of the EMU group, then Colin and I split off and joined JenM in the UK.

After the 10 hours ride on the night train. Finally we get back to Hanoi again.
Today we are trying to travel the places we have missed as this is the last day we are going to spend here.
Today, we have another new friend is going to join us. She is Madam Zhu Yun Fei. I met her at Lao Cai train station last night. Both of us leaving from Lao Cai at the different time and we are in the different cabin too.
We decided to go Ho Chi Minh Museum and the One pillar Pagodo together. We missed t…

Today we decided to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Because we got up a little bit late (around 8:00 AM) and after doing some stuff, we started for the trip at 9:30 AM, then we arrived at the Mausoleum after 20 minutes of driving my motorbike. When we arrived at the Mausoleum, my friend Brian was very surprised at the long and crowded row of people in front of us. He asked me what they were doing while he did not know that he will soon join that row!I had to park my motorbike at a much further p…

Hei igjen!

Nothing much to see, unless you’re into war history (did that rhyme? Poet, and didn’t. . . realize it). Some incredibly beautiful women, though, which is really all I need to make my job worthwhile.

Decided that Hanoi was good enough to give another day to, so have booked in a Halong Bay cruise for tomorrow and will just wander around today. Figuring out who to book tours with is an effort, my general concensus is you get what you pay for, so while you can get a bargain I think you'd be crammed on a boat like sardines, ask me again in 3 days and we'll see....

Back in Hanoi we checked into the Golden Buffalo hotel, another place that has mutiple imposters throughout Hanoi so any recommendation is difficult. Our one is on Ngo Huyen and it's fine apart from the St Joseph's Cathedral nearby, which for some bizarre reason rings its bells at 3.15 every morning! I suppose that comes under the "no rest for the wicked" category. We headed to the City View Bar and Restaurant which is right by the lake and about six storeys up for some great evening views of…

Salut,

I know how much you guys have been missing my stories of bus travel. Well here we are another classic boring story for you guys. But I just want you guys to feel my pain.
SO we go for Hoi an to Hue by normal bus fine normal. Get out. Swap buses to a sleeper bus. Now we have already done this so we are thinking that was fine and at half the cost of the train we will do it again. Silly us we forgot this is Asia and that it won't be consistant. Now this coach had bunkbeds, yes u read th…
