Hanoi to Hoi An...the best way to get to Hoi An from Hanoi is to take a plane, you can either get into Vietnam Airlines or Pacific Airlines whichever is available to Danang. The flight is around an hour or a little bit more. From Danang you can either take a private car or bus and off you go to Hoi An. If you feel like taking a train from Hanoi it would take you around 12 hours. So, the best option you will have is to fly to Danang. The ticket will cost you around 35-50USD..I'm not sure how much it cost now as I was there 2 years ago. But you can check with Vietnam airlines or Pacific airlines, they have websites that you can check the rates on...I hope this info helps.
