For $20-30, you can find a lovely old-fashioned hotel in the heart of old town Hanoi. The hotel's decor has French influence, and a few rooms have balconies over the main street. Very reminiscent of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Free internet with a computer in each room and a modest breakfast. No elevator, but quite a homely experience! The staff is the nicest I've ever experienced! They can help organize tours to Halong Bay and Ho Chi Minh's Mosoleum. I will defintely stay there again next time I go.
