Best place to snorkel! Mar 22, 2015
The bay is made from a volcanic eruption, making it shallow and a great habitat for sea life. Since it's so shallow, you can get closer to the fish to really see them. Some will even swim under you.

The park opens at 8am. It fills up fast, so get there early. Otherwise, you will find yourself unable to enter and having to wait along the rode for somebody to exit.

After paying admission, you have to watch a 12-minute video. Fill out a form and you don't have to do watch the video again for another year.

The walk down to the beach is 1/4 mile and very steep. Pay $6 for a round trip shuttle ride and save your energy for snorkeling!

You can bring snorkeling gear or rent it at the beach.

This is a brilliant place, though I was saddened by the WAY fewer fish we witnessed snorkeling here in 1995 versus 2005. Sounds like there are still some around in 2015???
