Hamilton House Estates B&B Reviews
Old Mansion May 13, 2008
My husband and I spent two nights in a beautiful old mansion, Hamilton House on Hamilton Lake in Hot Springs. We were the only ones staying there and had the whole house to ourselves, and ejoyed exploring the rooms and grounds. We were greeted by a a young lady, recently hired, who showed us the house. She was friendly and polite, but had trouble with the printer, causing us some delay.
We resevered the Weekend Retreat Package, including chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, a restaurant certificate, and admission to Garvan Gardens. The strawberries were wonderful (though would have been easier to eat with an extra plate and napkins). The room we stayed in was beautiful and overlooked a statue of Neptune at the entrance. The bed was quite comfortable the first night. The second night the air conditioner went out in the middle of the night, and it got pretty hot on the second floor. We told the manager about it in the morning and was told that if we had called, there was a reset switch. (The same thing had happened to a previous couple. So if you plan on visiting, don't hesitate to call the manager even if it is in the middle of the night.) The food was good and our chef was very friendly. We had access to a little fridge that was stocked with juices and snacks. I think I would not chacterize this location as a bed and breakfast, since the owner was not there at all, and everything was handled by hired people. So it was a little cold in that respect. It is more like an inn with a restaurant on site. We didn't get to speak to the owner or enjoy specially prepared dishes that are the trademark of the other bed and breakfasts we've been to. But is was quiet, private, and in a beautiful setting. It would be a nice place to have a wedding. |

The WORST B&B in Hot Springs Apr 14, 2008
Aoril 4-6 2008
I've stayed at many B&Bs throughout the US and Canada, but without a doubt this is the very worst experience I've ever had. Management failed to tell me me before we arrived that the first night there was a wedding which took over the facility and kept us up until 10:30 PM. The second night was even worse -- the Daffodil Ball which included a band a few feet away from our door, with very loud music which kept us up until 11:10 PM. This experience was so bizarre that it's impossible to describe. Management obviously cares nothing for its guests. We had the TV at maximum volume in the room and could not hear it over the band. Management promised the band would quit by 11 but the rapper just really got started then. Think about having a full volume boom box in bed with you and that's about what we had to put up with. Management says it will refund part of the first night's stay and all of the second night's stay, but even a full refund will not remove the bitter taste of this experience. Do not ever consider staying at this facility - it is a party facility and not a bed & breakfast. It was so bad the second night that the innkeeper quit! |
