Hale Koa Hotel
Hale Koa Hotel Reviews
Military Only Hotel in Hawaii Oct 13, 2008
The Hale Koa Hotel is located on Waikiki Beach and is open only to personnel affliated with the United States Department of Defense. Active duty, reserve, and retired US Military, as well current Department of Defense civilians are authorized to stay here. BOOK EARLY!!!!!!! Getting a room at the Hale Koa Hotel can be difficult due to the popularity with the retired community. Though the age group tends to be a bit older than some other hotels the Hale Koa Hotel by no means lacks by way of hospitality and activities! There are several restuarants from casual to fine dining as well as a few little bars if you are looking for a relaxing drink. There are two swimming pools one for guests only and the other (bigger, better) pool is for military and family. The gym as many things to offer as well as the spa. During the week there is an outdoor dinner that changes throughout the week from a luau to dinner "musical". The Hale Koa Hotel also offers the military community stationed on the island the opportunity to use it's facilities as well is a great way to "entertain" visiting families. The rooms are very nice and also offer a wide range of views, accomodations, and prices (depending on military pay grade). If you are eligible to reserve a room at this hotel and find that there is availability when you want to visit Hawaii. I strongly suggest you check out this perk of military affiliation.

Hale Koa Hotel - The Most Beautiful Military Hotel in the World Jul 30, 1999
The Hale Koa Military Hotel is a gorgeous facility with an open-air reception area between two 14-story towers of rooms each with a balcony, right on Waikiki Beach on the Fort DeRussy Military Reservation in downtown Honolulu. This has to be the most expensive land in the world to have a military facility.
The rooms and views here are excellent. The food is good, There are plenty of activities, including a luau and majic show. there are two huge pools and the Barefoot Bar is right on the beachfront. Be sure to try the homemade "Koala Bear" invented by Ray the bartender. There are tour and activities offices for everything from sightseeing cruises, to parasailing, travel to the otrher islands on fly/drive packages, and the famous Polynesian Cultural Center. Even the Fort DeRussy Military Museum of the Pacific is interesteing and only a 2 minute walk. You are close to all the shops on Kalakaua Avenue, including the International Market Place. Many restaurants are located within walking distance if you prefer not to eat at any of the great restaurants already located in the Hale Koa like Bibas. For nightlife, the Hale Koa has a lot of retirees staying there so you might have to go someplace else if you want a younger crowd. We recommend Duke's Canoe Club on Kalakaua Avenue across from the International Market Place and Waves also on Kalakaua Ave. The Barefoot Bar also has a DJ on weekend nights for dancing on the beachfront. You won't believe this place is owned by the military and how close you are from the beach to your room! Part of the Jeff and Jenny's Travels from 1998 to 2008 travel blog
