Hakuba Overview

Located on the main Honshu island in Japan, Hakuba is a town nestled in the beautiful mountains. Approximately an hours travel by bus from Nagano, the host city of the 1998 Winter Olympics, Hakuba hosted a number of events in that Olympics and is home to outstanding slopes and phenomenally fluffy dry powder snow, a paradise for winter sports lovers.

Spend the day skiing or snowboarding on one of the mountains; Happo-One, Hakuba 47, Goryu, Iwatake, Cortina can all be reached by a short shuttle bus ride. Afterwards, relax those muscles in one of the tranquil onsens. There is nothing like soaking in a piping hot onsen while the snow is falling around you!

There are many eateries with delicious food and a number of bars to unwind with friends. The main information centre sells lift passes, shuttle bus tickets, bus tickets to Nagano, and tickets for snow monkey tours, which are accessible from Hakuba as a full day trip.

There are a number of hotels and hostels to stay at, the locals are very welcoming, and the experience of carving your skis or board down one of Hakuba's many world class slopes is unforgettable!
