Hafız Mustafa May 27, 2017
Pastry shop Hafız Mustafa is well located in the heart of the Sultanahmet Quarter, next to tram stop.

They sell one of the best Turkish delights I have ever tasted. For locals it is a place where they go for a cake in the city since childhood.

A guest will be offered to taste different flavors for free before buying anything. In a great sellection they have very delicious and fresh muhallebiler or sütlaç( Turkish style rice pudings), baklavas, lokums, künefe, confectionery with strawberries and many other cakes which names I do not know. They can taste too sweet for those who are not used on this kind of sweets. In that case they serve a real Turkish coffee with an amazingly rich taste and tea as well.

In the bottom of the shop there is a serving room with tables and chairs for guests who want to sit and eat it inside the shop. The tables are small and chairs are not quite comfortable for longer sitting, probably only for eat and go. Service is fast and the place is clean. The staff is helpful and polite.

Many visitors who could eat "a half of the cakes in the shop" will say that the cakes are overpriced, but for such a brand name and famous pastryshop in the city, I think the price is reasonable. The name seems to stand for quality. Hafız Mustafa's 150-year flavor was the subject of CNN program, mentioning the history of the shop and the unique taste of their sweets.

A guest can be easily addicted to that kind of sweets, as it happened to me. I miss it already while I am writing here. I bought a kilogram of baklava with pistachios and brought it to my home, but it was all gone in a day when friends started visiting me after the journey. It was absolutely divine for everybody's taste.
