I was here in may 2008 with a group of students. we stayed for 5 days. the hostel seems to have been refurnished recently. the beds are good and the rooms are clean. there is a living room with a TV and a fridge with cold beer. kitchen is all right too. when we were there we could make use of the internet for free.
a downside of the hostel is that there is only one shower for all, and there are about 30 beds in the hostel. as we were with a group of 20, we had to take lots of time to get up and have everybody ready...

the hostel is owned by a Dutch guy. that was easy for us as we are Dutch too. he has some guys working for him. they are friendly although some of them are a bit cooky. the guys took us to a club that turned out to be a bit spooky with people taking drugs and naked women all over the bars. the guys in our group were having a great time, but the girls were thinking; what did i get myself into.... ;) (it seems to be normal in Russia to have women taking their clothes off in clubs)

the location of this hostel is very easy, central and near the only starbucks in town! it's a bit hard to find though, no big sign on the door.
the owner told us that he was considering buying another apartment in the building to double the amount of beds. hopefully he then will be adding some showers to the hostel...

PS: important: don't forget to study the cyryllic alphabet before you go to Russia, and also take it with you! they are not keen on western writing at all. especially when travelling in subway, you will need to use that alphabet to translate. also, hardly anyone speaks english. look for young people with i-pods in their ears, with them you have more chance of relatively easy communication. be prepared! ;)

By some miracle my baggage wasn't left in Stockholm and getting through customs was also quick and painless. My russian friend Victor ('иктор) was waiting for me and we jumped on a small bus to head to the first of many, many metro stations.…… Capsule Of Death

We woke up around 9am as we were demolished! This time was much easier to get to the subway, as we already knew how to get there and how to move around. On our way to the stop we went in a Holliday Inn to book a taxi for next day at 5am as our fligh…… Kremlin and Red Square

We left Yaroslavl in the early morning. Travelling back to Moscow. On our way we did visit the famous monastery Holy-Trinity St. Sergius Lavra. In Moscow we had a couple of hours to spend before going on the nighttrain to Petrozavodsk (Karelia). …… Yaroslavl - Sergiyev Posad - Moscow - nighttrain to Petrozavodsk
