H Top Gran Casino Royal Hotel Lloret de Mar

I guess you get what you pay for with this one. Probably when new it was a good hotel but looks tired and in need of a facelift. Front of house staff not particularly helpful and no rep information available. Quite noisy down the various corridors to the rooms so sleep is pot luck. Very smoky so beware if you are a non smoker - corridors smell of smoke as does the reception area. Food not bad if short on imagination, choices are available but don't look for haute cuisine - it's your basic fayre. All self service and you need to be in the dining room on time otherwise you will have to take what's left. Rooms do have satelite tv but you have to give a 20 Euro deposit for the remote - you do get this back when you leave. Within short walking distance of the beach and promenade shops. Lovely local market on Sunday in Lloret de Mar which stays open in the evening. Good for a long weekend stay but wouldn't recommend any longer. A stereotypical English touristy hotel abroad.
