Hidden gem of DC, not sure I want to write a review and crowd the place up! Apr 05, 2011
Wow-oh-wow-oh-wow! I finally got to go to the H Street Coutry Club and that place is so cool. With my jeans and sneakers, I headed over to the H street corridor with some friends.

The bar is cool and they do have a nice selection of drinks. On the first floor, they have skee ball and some other games, but the action is on the 2nd floor. It's true, they really do have a 9-hole golf course. Each whole has a theme related to DC (except for the one with the lego men-I'm not sure how that adds up).

Depending on the crowd, it might not take more than half an hour to make your way through, but it depends on how good your skills are, how many drinks you had downstairs, how many are in your party, how good your aim, how well you assessed the green before you began putting (darm those hidden holes), and if you're really keeping score or not.

It's a really cool set-up and it can be lots of fun (depending on who you go with). It could be an expensive night if you play everything, but is all and all a good night. They have a small menu of food items and more drinks items on the menu than food. The calamari is pporly done-overcooked and waaaay to crispy to eat, but if you just want something to soak up the liquor, they'll do. The quesadillas were better.

Come casual, bring ID and enjoy!

Mexican Food, Drinks and...games! Aug 13, 2010
Continuing with the unique themes of bars opening up on H Street NE, H Street Country Club truly stands alone. Nothing about this place makes sense on its face, but once inside, one realizes that it all comes together very nicely.

First, the games. H Street not only has a full 9-hole mini-golf course upstairs, but they also have pinball machines, pool tables, shuffle board and skee-ball! And, unlike the suburban bohemeths Dave & Busters, H Street strictly enforces the adults only aspect, so there aren't any annoying little kids running around.

Next, the food. It's Mexican, and it's damn good for a place that isn't even really advertised as being a Mexican resturaunt. Despite all the games, the club somehow has seating for 300. Start with some nachos!

Finally, the drinks. Boasting one of the best Tequilla selections in the city, they'll serve it up however you want. The pitchers of Margaritas are particularly tasty. The club also features a good beer selection.

So leave the kids at home and let loose playing games and enjoying great Mexican food and drinks at H Street Country Club!
