Depending on traffic,Gurnee is about an hours drive from downtown Chicago.Gurnees three main attractions are: 1) the amusement park Six Flags Great America, 2) Gurnee Mills shopping center, 3) Key Lime Cove indoor water park for children and all ages. This is not just a water park but you will see it's an hotel as well. They have a great school system for all ages, and minimal crime in the area. People feel safe here to jog, walk and run. The population is average but not large at all. Many different churches are available too. You will find many great restaurants in the area for your selection. The highway is near by, might be interested in getting an IPASS (so you don't have to stop and pay tolls throughout Illinois area. You may even catch the metra to many suburbs in the area, and buses.
Waukegan is about 40 miles north of Chicago, and only 8 miles from the border of Wisconsin, which makes it roughly the halfway point between Chicago and Milwaukee.
