As I wrote in my Review about 'two weeks in Alaska', I recommended a couple books to purchase for your research and trip. One being the MilePost and the other being the Alaska Almanac, filled with facts about Alaska that you need to know, what to know, and never even thought of knowing, but are neither better off or worse for knowing, but just glad to know, so when your at a tourist location you can tell the lady next from Texas that if you cut Alaska in half and made states out of the two pieces, Texas would now be the 3rd largest state in America, and not just the currest 2nd largest (sorry you Texans, how 'bout them Cowboys!!!! loved the Tom Laundry/Roger Stuabach years!!).

You can order the Milepost and Alaska Almanac at discounted prices and they will ship them to ya. (sorry for the international people, I'm talking US shipping and prices here, but the way the US$$ is dropping, they may pay you to ship it to ya). The 2007 MilePost is $20.97 and the 2006 Almanac is $2.98. You can send is via multi-media at $2.50 which may take a month or two, or US Priority mail is just $5.70 (I'm sending the books to my sister, cause her and her hubby are coming up here in May/June for about ten days).

As far as Gulliver's goes. It's a great indendently owned bookstore that is by the univsity that is one of the few places that offers free wireless for you laptop and they have a great upstair cafe and used bookstore, which you can exchange you previously purchased used books and get a little money back from the little money you paid for it. Yes, they may not have the heeping selection that Barnes and Nobels has, or the fake-arse fireplace that you can grab a coffee and look important sitting around looking like a smarty pants (laymans term for a word I can't spell, intellectual). But hey, you can do that at your local mini-mall just down the street, so like they say in Austin, Keep Austin weird. KEEP ALASKA ALASKAN... It's alright to not have more than 100 hundred books on three shelfs for self-help, if you ask me, if you need more than two, you are too messed up to bother with reading them kind of books all the time anyway, just ride the ride your on and have fun with it!!!!!! heck, we are all a little off center anyway.

So, nuff said. Gulliver's for ordering your Alaska Books before you come up. Gulliver's for stopping buy to get some coffee and free wireless and a bagel or sandwich for when you get here and emailing your friends back home to tell them you are in Alaska and they are not (they do have one desktop you might be able to get on). Agree!!!!! cheers, scott
