Pompous vendors selling amazing amazing stuff at atrociously high prices! Nov 17, 2012
Every time I visit Bengaluru, visiting this exhibition is one of my must-do's. Not that I buy a lot, or ANYTHING for that matter but it's just amazing pieces of art over and over again.

Shoes, clothees, silver and gold idols of God, traditional dresses for little kids, handbags for ladies, paintings on canvas, so much so much.... it's just incredible.

The things that work against it is, for a temporary 'flea market', the vendors are total snobs. Rude to begin with, some of them don't even speak English, they're not polite and tend to "shoo" people who stare at their items for too long without showing signs of buying 'em. There is NO scope whatsoever for haggling, infact they almost look down on you if you dare try haggling, and tend to have a very "Union" based approach (an us vs the customers kind of thing).

But just for the artisan's work, just for the amazing work of patience and love and labour that goes into it I think is worth the little schlep to this exhibition.

I would say scout for goods here but DON'T BUY. There are tons of other speciality stores in Bengaluru that sell cheaper and much better stuff.
