Guest houses are the best all round deal weather you are staying a short time or a long time in Japan a guest house is the cheapest option available in this country.
The average cost is around 30 USD (3,000 yen) per night. Most guest house include all facilites and are located close to the popular sightseeing areas. They are cheap, clean and convienient. I recommend then one near Asakusa - Sakura Hostel great location and recently new. Its close to all the sites of Asakusa and nearby Ginza.
