Guarne Overview

Guarne Colombia is a municipality located in the East suregión Antioquia department. Bordered on the north by the municipalities of Copacabana, Girardota and San Vicente, on the east by San Vicente, the south by the municipality of Rio Negro and the west by the municipality of Medellín. Its head is 25 kilometers from the city of Medellin, capital of Antioquia. The municipality covers an area of 151 square kilometers.
Sightseeing:

About history: As in the whole region surrounding this district in eastern Antioquia, Tahamíes Indians were the first settlers of the territory of Guarne, like the Caribs who came from the Nare River. In 1541 Guarne discovers Alvaro Mendoza, and finding no gold back Aburrá Valley. In 1640, Captain Fernando del Toro Zapata (Remedios) and the Spanish Diego Beltran del Castillo reached Guarne also in search of gold. The first settlers of the new Ibero-American culture Guarne were slaves. Guarne in 1757 is raised to the Party status-dependent Rionegro. In 1814 the dictator Juan del Corral creates Guarne Township. In 1989 the telegraph set in 1926 comes the tram. Guarne is currently the gate east of Medellin in Medellin-Bogota highway, and farm district has full recreation and relaxation.
