Exploring Guards Avenue Jul 26, 2017
Guards Avenue is the longest thoroughfare of Syeverodonetsk. The avenue was called Lissichansk Street (after the neighboring city) before 1975.

The avenue starts from the turning to Lyssychansk in the industrial area. Its residential area starts at the crossing with Automobile Street. Guards Avenue is intersected by eight streets and leads to the forest located on the city outskirts.

This avenue is a busy shopping street with lots of stores, drugstores, banks, restaurants and cafes.

There is a memorial plaque on the building of Interpulse Company opposite Central Hotel. The building is located next to Victory Square. The inscription on the memorial plaque attached to the building reads,"On January 31, 1943 the officers and soldiers of the 41st Guards Infantry Division liberated the settlement of Leskhimstroy (now the city of Syeverodonetsk) from Nazi invaders. To honor the liberators, the eternally thankful residents of Syeverodonetsk named this avenue Guards Avenue".
