The Guardian is a building is a "can't miss" on a trip to Detroit. Designed by Wirt C. Rowland, of the Smith Hinchman & Grylls firm (now SmithGroup, an architecture firm housed in the building), the Guardian was completed in 1929, just before the stock market crash.

In any panorama of the Detroit skyline, the Guardian recognizable by its orange brickwork and intricate tile and terra cotta detailing, which extends the entire length of the building, from the entrance along Griswold Avenue to the tip of its uppermost spire. Step inside to experience the inner beauty of this Art Deco gem in the city. After taking in the beauty of the awe-inspiring tile ceiling, explore the nearby shops: Pure Detroit, Rowland's Cafe, City Knits and Stella's (a sandwich shop).
