It has a nice shared kitchen Sep 21, 2017
I'm sometimes confused the name of places in Iceland. The pronunciation is not easy which is embarrassing for me to speak, but local people don't laugh at you, they'll say it correctly

Grundarfjordur is a fishing village on the peninsula Snaefellsnes, is best known for its mountain Kirkjufell. The location of the apartments is really great, but I'm afraid the only way to get there is by car. I haven't seen buses this way.

We have a long scenic drive to get there and have done many stops on the way. The previous night we staying in Akureyri. Is normally less or more than five hours drive non stop, but it took us awhile so much to see on the way up there. We also stopped at supermarket for food we knew there is a shared kitchen in the apartment

We arrive later in the afternoon - the sign of Grundarfjordur Guesthouse and Apartments is nicely designated where took us to a small office to check-in. I didn't expected to see an office when I know is an apartment, but they have check-in counter. The lady behind desk is friendly, when we arrived there are other people waiting, so is kind of busy

They have rooms behind the office, as I've seen people going in and out and some rooms were on another buldings, not to mentioned the apartments where we staying. So they can accommodated a lot of people

The apartments is separated from the guest house, so after check-in they pointed to us on the map where to drive. It looks a big building plenty of rooms inside. But I didn't know that all occupied.

When we arrived it was still quiet, there is only one car outside. We have the room key and room number - it seems our room allocated near the kitchen. The bedroom is somehow not a wow - basic room, parquet floor, blue curtain, one chair, but we have a seaview, that is the advantage. Although the bed isn't look so nice, but is comfortable matress. The heater is not working well, I put it on as it's getting cold at night

Bathroom is clean but small, shower with hot water which is very important as is so cold in the morning

When checking out in the morning, we're told to leave the key on the door.

Free wifi is available overall with pretty good connection

The nicest thing in this apartments is the equipped kitchen. Complete with cooking pans in all sizes, two big refrigerator, kettle, toaster everything you can find inside the cupboard. It makes like better if you find anything you need. And the views from the kitchen window is beautiful

While is quiet and nobody in the kitchen except us, we prepared our dinner. While were cooking another couple from Netherlands came, but they just want to watch television. So there I was preparing our dinner

And the huge communal room where television and dining table are located is a good place to meet fellow travelers. Later in the evening when everyone is back is kind of very busy in the kitchen we're lucky preparing our food early. They all went hiking, most people staying for a few days. Is a great place for active travelers. Nearby is few waterfalls to admire. So its worth coming to this place
