Grote Markt Mechelen Reviews
lovely main square Sep 04, 2010
The "Grote Markt" is the main market square of Mechelen and houses a nice collection of historic landmark buildings such as the Town Hall and many former guild houses.
The square is a pedestrian area with many restaurants and terraces; a great place to stop and have a drink and do some people watching.
The Grote Markt used to host the statue of Margaret of Austria, but since 2006 it has been relocated to the nearby Shoe Market, close to St Rumbold's Cathedral.
