Gros Islet Overview

Gros Islet (pronounced in one swift word: GROZ-i-lay) is a little fishing village located in the northeastern tip of the island. It is a popular tourist destination as there are many things within walking distance. From the end of Reduit beach, it can take about 20 minutes to walk into town (where there is a supermarket, Burger King and a liquor store among other places);on the way, you are sure to pass over 25 restaurants and bars, a small expensive, but near-by mini-market (Peppers)-if you don't want to walk all the way to the mall in the town with the supermarket (Super J), vendors (selling fruits, fresh coconut water, and jewelry) and water activities and other to-do's.

Right across the water from Reduit Beach is Pigeon Island; it can be reached by water taxi, regular taxi or a long walk (about an hour and a half) around Rodney Bay. On Friday nights, the village is a jumping with a weekly Jump Up street party. The music is grand and any food you need is probably there.

The area has many restaurants, has clear water for snorkeling and other water activties and there are many hotels to choose from. It lies over an hour's drive from Hewanorra/Vieux Fort airport and about 10 minutes from George Charles Airport. I hope you enjoy your stay.
