Rue du Gros Horloge, Rouen, France
Gros Horloge Rouen Reviews
An amazing view ! Jul 12, 2009
For 6€ (3€ for students), Le Gros Horloge is much more than a visit of a Renaissance clock tower built in the late 1300s...
Once you have climbed up to the belfry tower, you have a panoramic view of the entire town of Rouen, just in front of the magnificient cathedral !
The visit itself is also very interesting, I learnt a lot about the clock and the town of Rouen with the very intersting audioguide.
Le Gros Horloge is an important building of Rouen. Located right in the city centre between the cathedral and the Place du Vieux Marché, you can't miss it.
Made of gold-leaf, details on this clock are amazing. It is said to be impossible to count the number of sheep on it, symbol of the town in reference of the importance of the textile industry in the past.
The visit lasts around 1 hour. You can ask for binoculars, providing an ID card.
I added pictures of the Gros Horloge itself to this review. Pictures of Rouen from the Gros Horloge are on my blog !
