Groove New York Reviews
Great fun and wonderful music Apr 02, 2010
We missed a set at Blue Note so we decided to go the Groove which was situated on the corner of MacDougal Street in the same street. It turned out that it was a great place where they play live R&B, Funk, & Soul music 7 nights a week.
We thought it was a bar, so we laughed at the admission fee but we just wanted to get a seat somewhere and apparently it is only on special nights that they take admission. The place was almost full even though it was only 9 pm but we managed with the help of a sweet blond waitress to get a table close to a large screen that covered a small stage.
We had just finished a huge meal and all the people around us were eating the quite greasy food in there and they all seemed to like it. After ½ hour the screen went up and a band appeared; I must say I found they played really nice and the girl was singing great. The place was full by now, but we decided to leave after some number because we wanted to hear music at the Blue Note. It turned out later that the music was much better at the Groove and we should have stayed there.
