Groom Vacation Guide

Groom, TX is located in Carson County, Texas about 45 miles east of Amarillo, TX. It is named for Col. B.B. Groom, a cattleman from KY who attempted a large cattle ranch in the Texas Panhandle. It failed.

The town sits on I-40 and the famous Mother Road, Route 66 used to occupy the same space. The locally famous Leaning Water Tower is a remnent of the Route 66 times. Today the leading, and really only, tourist attraction is the 190 ft tall Cross of Jesus Christ, which can be seen for 20 miles around.

Groom has a population of around 500 people. Summer temps are often over 100 degrees and winters can be cold.
