An aspirine for the bill please..... Oct 06, 2014
Banff village isn't giant, so the choices for shopping and food are enclosed in an avenue: Banff avenue. Our second day in Banff, late afternoon we were hungry so we looked for a restaurant to eat. The tables outside Grizzly House were full, so we asked stuff for a table for two, inside the restaurant. For our good luck(?), we found a table close to the exit and right. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and noticed that the restaurant was almost full and the decoration referred to a prehistoric era. The predominant feature of the restaurant is the wood.

All the plates of menu were expensive, so we ordered one offer which included soup with chicken and pasta for starter, Buffalo tartar, 2 hunter complete (buffalo, pork and vison) and desserts with fruits and chocolate for the end. Fun in the whole affair is that simmer alone the pieces of meat on a hot stone for 3-4 minutes each piece. Food was delicious, service from the stuff excellent, decoration of the restaurant accurate and original, but Grizzly House is an expensive restaurant, and there are decades other choices for food in Banff. We paid (2 persons), 173cad dollars or 123 euros. Really expensive!

Unique Dining Experience in Banff - Grizzly House Mar 16, 2012
The Grizzly House in Banff if a place that I had often walked by, and often heard recommended, but had never opted to visit during my many trips to Banff, almost entirely because of the price. It is a very expensive restaurant, at least by my standards! However, when my boyfriend and I decided to take a romantic Valentine’s day trip to Banff, we decided to splurge.

It’s a fondue restaurant, and you can choose between regular oil fondue or hot rock fondue; we had the oil fondue and it was excellent. From what I could see, the best value was purchasing a whole meal, which includes bread and oil, either a vegetable or cheese fondue dish to share, a main course, and desert to share.

Everything was absolutely perfect, so delicious! We chose the vegetable appetizer, and for my main course I had the beef and lobster, while my boyfriend had beef and chicken. Absolutely perfect food. Each main course is served with 5 sauces as well.

There are also exotic dishes, although we were too full by the end to try. They include shark, alligator, ostrich, rattlesnake, among others.

Moving on from the food, the ambiance of the restaurant is both odd and romantic. There is dim lighting and a nice setting, yet it is whimsical as well. There are telephones located at every table, and when you are seated you receive a map of the restaurant with table numbers. You can phone any table you choose and they can phone you, it’s a fun feeling when the phone starts ringing and you don’t know who it is! We also called around. Allow some time, however, as we spent at least 3 hours there and it is definitely not a quick dining experience. Perfect for after hitting the slopes.

Overall, fantastic restaurant, well worth the splurge.

Best Restaurant in Banff Aug 20, 2011
My Canadian friends booked Grizzly House for my birthday treat. Eating here is a whole new experience, if you like meat and want to try rattlesnake and elk then this is the place to come. Its specialty is Fondue with a difference. The menu is extensive and the food amazing. As its quite expensive the cheapest option is to go for one of the fondue dinners which is what we did. The dinner is four courses with a salad or soup for starters, appetizers is a cheese or vegetable fondue. For the main course you can choose one of the meat platters. I chose the Banff Special off the specials board which was chunks of Elk, Buffalo, Venison and Beef. The meat comes raw and you cook it yourself on hot stones then you are given a plate of different dips to dunk your meat pieces into. And you won't be disappointed with desert, melted chocolate Toblerone fondue with fresh fruit for dipping. The decor is dark rustic wood decked out in a sort of wild west theme. Tables around the edge have old telephones and you can ring people on other tables which adds to the fun! Book early though as this place is very popular.
