Gretna Green, Scotland, which is located just on the southern border is a famous location for marriages. Back in 1753 a law was passed in England that required both parties to be at least 21 years of age or get consent from the parents. Scotland didn't have such a law, and so young people eloped to this small little village where the local Blacksmith could perform a marriage. Over the years it has become a very traditional place for marriages and to this day performs more than 15% of the marriages in Scotland.

Of course, today many small shops are also located near the Blacksmiths Shop where you can purchase souvenirs, and other Scottish items.
