Great small island Apr 11, 2011
The islands in the Oslo-fjord are truly great, especially Gressholmen, where there are less people on the warmest days because there is no real beach there.

Just take the bus to Vippetangen, and use the same ticket for the boat to Gressholmen - the ferry ride takes around 20 mins.

Gressholmen which is a little island in the Oslo Fjord is the only place in Norway where you can see so many rabbits at the same time. Before people let loose alot of rabbits there , but im not sure if its allowed anymore beacause of the rabbit population has increased so much the last years.

I love my city during summer time. There's not many cities in the world (that I have been to) where you can take a swim at the beach in the morning, go for a hike in the forest in the afternoon, and then go out clubbing in the city centre at night- and everything is within 5- 15 minutes drive. Anyways, I was going to speak about Gressholmen here. I love Gressholmen during summer. Gressholmen is a small island in the Oslo fjord. The island has great beaches, forests and rabbits. When people didn't want to keep their rabbits anymore, they let the rabbits loose at Gressholmen, and now the rabbit population at Gressholmen is increasing every year. To get to this island, you can take the small ferry from "Vippetangen". If you want, you can stay on this island for lunch and then you can take the ferry to one of the nearby islands "Hovedøya" or "Langøyene" for dinner. Bring your own food, the food places at the islands don't have the biggest selection and can be quite expensive. On warm summer days, be patient, because the islands can get really crowded.
