Traditional Greek Tavern Mar 21, 2013
When we travel we always look for a local place that has traditional food. We asked about a place to eat and we were recommended to go to Gregory's Tavern.

We walked in a little uncertainly and were greeted and seated. We were asked if we would like wine with dinner so we got a caraf.

We thought we would get a menu but instead we were taken into the kitchen and we picked out our food. What a delightful thing this was. We looked into every skillet, pot and pan. Everything looked so good.... simmering and waiting to be eaten. silver fish, dolmas, tomatoes... Oh the variety!! I would have loved to try every single thing.

We noticed they actually do not have a menu and all of the locals just said what they wanted .... (they didn't go into the kitchen.... maybe that's just for tourists who wouldn't recognize the dishes names)

We decided to get a variety and split it all. We got octopus cooked in butter and lemon and lamb cooked in herbs. We also got bread, vegetables in tomato sauce, stuffed tomatoes, dolmsas wrapped in cabbage, hot eggplant salad, Greek salad and red wine.

We got really, really carried away by the moment and ordered way too much. We weren't in a hurry and took a couple of hours to eat. It was all so wonderful.

We felt the meal wasn't cheap but we also seriously over ordered. It was excellent. It's wonderful to find a place that has traditional food. We went again the next night too and were not disappointed.
Apples with honey for dessert
