An ex-pat from New York founded this European style cafe in Haifa (note: Israeli's love their instant coffee - Nescafe - or Nes Cafe - means "miracle coffee" in Hebrew. So if you like your drip filtered brute strength chichi coffee then head here for a nice change of pace).

Every sit down coffee is completed with dark chocolate coffee beans covering the bill. A great way to finish off your nite. They're open super late. A bit on the expensive side - just a bit more than your average Starbucks/designer coffee chain specialty drink - but worth it if you're jonesin' for a taste of home.

I was at the centre-town location so I can't speak for the service/quality at other locations.

"Nes" comes from the Swiss coffee and food giant Nescafe, whose instant coffee was the most widely know imported, non-Israeli brand in Israel for years. "Nes" does mean miracle, but that is just a humourous play on words. Cafe with good non-Middle eastern coffee are of European inspiration, especially Italy, and not American. American coffee has a very bad reputation with Israelis, although European coffee habits are also common in America for many years. No one "loves" instant coffee, but it is convenient. Even Italians and French drink it. Greg has 5 or more branches in Haifa, and serve very decent food. Haloumi Salad is great--even the smaller one is enough for two non-glutton.
