Greenmarket Square Jan 28, 2017
Greenmarket Square is a bustling market surrounded by some lovely old buildings. In the past this square has been home to a flea market, very sadly a slave market and a fruit and vegetable market. During the days of Apartheid political protests often took place here.

I bought myself a traditional South African doll here. This is called a Ndebele doll. It is supposed to encourage fertility. It is made of cloth and beads are sewn on to create the doll's face, a ring forms the doll's neck. I think it is beautiful.

There were lots of interesting things on sale in this square. Sadly as it was the last day, we were running out of money or I'd have bought much more. Green market Square was interesting but we were also hassled by lots of beggars so did not spend too long here.
