Nice is one word Feb 17, 2013
A 2 hour drive by car from Madurai uphill to the cool mountains of Kodaikanal was worth the trip.Hotels in Kodaikanal are very expensive during seasons which begin in March and this month being quite close was getting into the grove.I had planned a stay for a night and the preceding day and as suggested by a friend wanted to check out the Green lands Youth Hostel and International home.I was surprised to find the Hostel had a clean dorm facility for about 5 usd and rooms from 15 usd. There were a group of school boys who had occupied most of the dorm and it was fun watching them settle into rack beds. The room I was slotted was not valley view but was comfortable and cozy. The hostel had a camp fire going that night. The hostel was strategically positioned and offered a nice valley view.It was quite close which may be a KM from the bazaar and the Bus station. The hostel did have a car park. The kitchen provides Indian food and also provides a kitchen on demand for self cooking and that was great. The hostel is walking distance from the attraction of the valley view from coakers walk or the BryAnts park, lake, boating, markets, horse riding and cycling. The hostel was neatly maintained and for the money paid it was just a great experience."Nice" is one word that could surnise my experience at Green lands hostel and International home.
