A guest house like home Jun 02, 2011
Tsomo Bhutia is the owner of Green Tara Home Stay in quaint Mirik, home of the largest Buddhist monastery in West Bengal. Conveniently located about 1.5 hours from Darjeeling by shared taxi, Mirik is a peaceful respite from the busier, more populated areas of India. If you are staying in Mirik or traveling through, I highly recommend you stay at Green Tara Home Stay, just around the corner from the beautiful monastery. Tsomo is one of the more accommodating guest house owners I have encountered anywhere and the Nepali and Indian girls who help her run Green Tare Home Stay are sweet and helpful. Three delicious meals are available each day at the guest house and I suggest you eat your meals there. You will save money and Tsomo makes a point to use less oil in her cooking than in most food you will find in India. The food is Tibetan-Indian fusion and she prepares quite a variety. You may even get Darjeeling tea and sweet bread in bed on a special morning.
