Green Island Restaurant

A relatively new Chinese restaurant in Temple City, east of Los Angeles. It is modern looking with open kitchen. The ceiling is high and it is not quiet. One section of the restaurant has many TV's along the wall and the middle has many tables, the right hand side has semi-private rooms but only separated with hanging beads from the rest of the restaurant, so it's not really private but you have an illusion of being in your own area. The food is mostly Hong Kong style, but has a good variety. You mark your order form like in some Japanese sushi restaurants. There were a lot of waiters and various workers and they moved very fast. The kitchen area is open and you can see what they are doing in there! The restaurant is rated as A (which is very good for a Chinese restaurant).

The menu has pictures so it's pretty easy to order. We had some very delicious Indian style thin pancakes (which they marked as pizza on the order form) and sweet-sour spareribs which was very good. The squid was also good. In addition we had a beef with rice dish which they cooked in a very hot iron pot at the table. Price was good too and the place was packed!
