    Don't get me wrong, I have dreamed of going to Athens since I was a little boy, but the reality of its current state and the image in my head were quite different. Athens has the history that I love: the Acropolis, Zeus' Temple, the Ancient Agora, Panathianiko Stadium (where the first Olympics were held), and more, but when I went, it appeared that the Olympics left the city in a state of flux. 10 days on the Greek Islands. Sun, swims, sea and siestas. Loved it. Most relaxing and exciting holiday yet! At the start of the holidays I travelled with Rose & Michael Nash to Budapest. Click on Rosie and Michael for look at photos.

The title says most of it. I took a once in a lifetime shot at knocking two things off my life list; a trip to Greece and running a marathon. It was a great weekend despite the pain I'll live with for the next few days. All said it was good friends, good food, great enviroment, and incredible glimpse back in time.

Departed Frankfurt International Airport, layover in Athens then onto to Santorini.  Ticket price was 259 US.  There are benches in the Athens airport that allow you to lay down, which is very important for those long journeys.  Follow signs to B 10-15 and there is a large with that is quiet and has benches without arm rests. Beautiful island, well worth seeing but public transport can make it quite hard to get around so I recommend hiring a car or quad bike to take in everything it has to offer.

I went backpacking though Europe in the Spring of 2007. I'll use this blog to post pictures and stories from the trip!

Me and my husband have recently returned from our Europe vacation. We spent a few days in Paris, France...his first time, my second..Then we went to Crete Greece and spent about 10 days..we stayed in Agia Marina near Chania, and went to some beautiful beaches..Palaiochora, Elafonisi, Gramvousa Bay, Balos Bay, and then stayed in Athens for a couple days.

this time i went to my friend's family house in Vartheolomio, east coast of greece for Xmas, i had a fantastic time and greek families are generally very kind, i'd feel the same as my home and i really treating them as my family! i love them. thank you costas! on X'mas eve, we had a big portion of meal,with Xmas songs, felt very X'masy, i loved it as i never done it in my life, hope they will ask me next year again and i WONT say no!
