We got a great deal on Ryanair and then said "what will we do" and luckily it worked out (especially as we had two sunny days!). We picked a hotel in Ennis (because everything closer to the airport was booked) and that was a good move. The hotel was cute, the pub was lively and we even saw a bit of irish dancing the next morning before leaving. From Ennis, it is a quick drive to the Cliffs of Moher. As they have now opened up the tourist attraction, the Cliffs are less "wild" than we expected but still spectacular. Next we drove through the Burren and then back to Doolin along a coastal road, where we saw plenty of wild untouched beauty. Doolin is a great spot to spend the evening as there is live Irish music in the pubs and you can enjoy a beautiful sunset over the ocean. Sunday morning we hit the road again as we had not found a Dolman on Saturday. The Burren is very easy to navigate (direction-wise...the roads are quite narrow and we did almost get hit by a run-away cow!) and if you just pick a different city to head toward, you will many new landscapes. Luckily some clouds rolled in just in time to remind us to go to the airport to head home or I think we'd still be driving around!
