Great Barrier Reef - Port Douglas Aug 12, 2011
Well I have scuba dived great barrier reef in Port Douglas. It was by far the most amazing spot i have dived. I recommend Aristocat for diving - the NZ boys are funny :)

I have scuba dived @ Surfers Paradise, it wasnt bad...

I have dived also at the Whitsundays along the great barrier reef. By far Port Douglas is much much much better. However the whitsundays are beautiful, I stayed at Airlie Beach and its really amazing... Loved everything about this place except the barrier reef - you need to go another 10-12 hours north at least.

I have also dived @ green island - Cairns, that was amazing. I saw my first shark in the wild and freaked out. I was alone aswell.

I have also done some snorkelling around Williamstown, Melbourne - nothing special in comparison to north Queensland but I just love the water...

typical tourist... Nov 17, 2010
they say the most beautiful reef in the world. Not as spectacular with Quicksilver!

Professional, and very well organised... though they will share with you the most boring part of the reef, with loads of tourists splashing over the same spot.

Try to do it with a smaller group that will take you to quieter, more interesting spots!

I've just come back from my first trip to the Great Barrier Reef. We did our tour with Haba Dive from Port Douglas and they were superb.Think they go from Cairns too. They provide an excellent service offering snorkelling and scuba diving with introductory dives on offer for those who want to try it for the first time. Unfortunately I chickened out at the last minute but I did my first snorkelling. I guess I really did start at the top as it doesn't get much better than the Reef...won't forget that experience in a hurry. Awesome!!!!
