On a recent trip to Australia, I had an amazing opprotunity to stay in some great places, eat soe wonderful food and make some great friends. Here are some of the highlights.

Day two of our stay in Cairns started off in a hurry.  After a wonderfully filling breakfast sans vegemite at the hotel, we sprinted off to the wharf and boarded the Big Cat, our catamaran sailing vessel that would whisk us off to Green Island in just an hour.  Green Island is the stepping off point for many reef adventures including glass bottom boats, semi-subs, snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, helicopter tours, eco-tours, and relaxing on the sunny beach. ...

As usual 6am start, a quick breakfast and out on the dive. The first dive was a pinnacle (Pixie Pinnacle) and again because it's a vertical thing probably not so appropriate for snorkelling but I just didn't care. Memories from my travels up the Gold Coast, from Sydney to Cairns/Daintree Rain forrest

With one of my best mates, I'm heading north for a wedding in Cairns over the October long weekend. Rather than just flying straight up and back, we figured we'd make the most of it by turning it into a 5 day weekend :)

A short trip where we started in Sydney, then flew in to Cairns and drove all the way to Cooktown and back, did a liveaboard on the Great Barrier Reef then flew back to Sydney.

Best Fourth of July ever! Today we went to the Great Barrier Reef. It was more amazing than I could have ever imagined. We rode a three decker catamaran out to a Reefworld. Reefworld is a giant platform on the edge of the reef with tons of activities. Apparently there are a lot of these out there for different companies to take tourists to the reef. Our guide, Remmy, was very funny. He nicknamed our group, “shark bait”. When we first arrived at Reefworld we went to an underwater view...

Where better in the world to take your first solo trip? In the land of Oz of course! I started out in Sydney, hopped on and off the popular backpacker Greyhound route to Cairns, and from there a short flight to Melbourne. This country has everything to offer. Go on, have a look!

I went to Australia with a program called People to People Student Ambassador Programs, founded by United States President Eisenhower in 1956.
