Nice setting to watch baseball Jul 30, 2015
Located in downtown, right by the Ohio River, the Great American Ball Park is a baseball stadium that does pay respects to team history, and a great place to watch a game.

Getting to it is not hard, but I don’t think there are any buses that go right by the stadium. If relying on public transportation, you would have to get off either at Government Square or near Fountain Square. The 2 squares are about a block away from each other. And Government Square is a depot of the local buses. And both squares are only a 5 minute walk to the ballpark.

As you arrive at the main entrance of the stadium, you will see some statues immediately. One of them is Joe Morgan, most well-known as a broadcaster these days. And another has a set of statues, in an area called the Reds Legends at Crosley Field. Those statues are from the time when the Reds played in Crosley Field, their home from 1912 to 1970. They include Ted Kluszewski, Ernie Lombardi, Joe Nuxhall, and Frank Robinson, all playing the game of baseball. The Reds Hall of Fame is nearby. That is a separate attraction, and thus, a separate review for that.

There are some references to one of the best (if not the best) players in Reds history, which is Pete Rose. Like the Rose Garden, and the 2 smokestacks that has 7 bats each. 7+7=14, which was Rose’s number. Those smoke stacks shoot out fire when a Reds pitcher gets a strikeout, and fireworks when they hit a home run or win the game.

One of the good places to sit, is the upper deck behind home plate area. That is where you can see the Ohio River, and see boats pass by. And a good view of both scoreboards.

With this much respect to its history, this ballpark is sure to be a delight to baseball fans. Plus in a nice location, with good views of the river, I would say, this ballpark is definitely one of the better ones that I have been to.
