Grazalema Overview

Grazalema is in the Province of Cadiz in Andalucia. The bus route from Ronda to the leather based town of Ubrique passes through the village, which is one of the pueblos blancos. On the bus it appears to be a hill-top village but a look around reveals that it is actually in a sort of basin among the mountains of the Sierra de Grazalema.

Grazalema is an excellent centre for walks in the sierra, although you are meant to obtain a pass from the Park Office in the village and some areas are restricted in the nesting season of the Griffon vultures. Two walks that can be particularly recommended are those to the Salto de Cabrero (Goatherd's Leap) and to Benamahoma past the Pinsapar, the largest colony of a rare Spanish fir.
