Chocolate en Barcelona Mar 27, 2011
Great cafe with a true Spanish feel. I recommend grabbing the churros next door and heading here for some warm chocolate to dip it in. Muy bien!

When in Barcelona, a stroll through the Gothic quarter and old town is a "must do". One place I recommend trying while wandering through this beautiful part of the city is the Granja / Xocolateria La Pallaresa. This is a café on Carrer Petrixol, close to the Gothic Church of Santa Maria del Pi, where you can try a nice cup of thick hot chocolate and some churros, melindros (lady fingers) or a croissant. There are numerous other local specialties to try like ensiamadas - a sweet roll covered with powdered sugar that is nice dipped into the hot chocolate! You may want to try a Suizo which is hot chocolate covered with a large portion of freshly whipped cream. Light! This is a great place to go and have a breakfast like the locals do, nothing fancy, but the chocolate is great and the area is nice to visit. If you're not into the chocolate, the coffee is good too!
