Another angle of Grand Father and Grand Mother Rocks Jan 16, 2012
This is one of the must see in Samui island. It is not difficult to get there as the location is about 300 meters from the main road in Lamai area. Just turn left to the small road if you come from Lamai Beach.

If you join Samui City Tour, this place must be included in the schedule. I was lucky because the hotel i stayed nearby this place, so i did not have to join the city tour.

As the symbol of sexual reproductive organs, Grand Pa and Grand Mom Rocks always become an interesting place to visit. You should not stay longer, approximately 30 minutes, because many people just only seeing and taking picture with the rocks background.

"Interesting shape of the rocks" Nov 20, 2010
Grandfather and Grandmother rocks also known as Hin Ta and Hin Yai. It is located between Lamai and Hua Thanon. Grandfather rock looks like penis and grandmother rock looks like vagina. There is a small beach which is not for swimming but it is possible to cool your feet. There are many shops sell clothes, postcards, drinks, souvenir goods and snacks. Parking is 20 baht and it is free to visit this attractions. It is really interesting what how this rocks are created like this. It has mystic view.

Beautiful Spot - Above & Below the water! Apr 09, 2009
The local name is "Hin da Hin Yai", (or similar variation of that spelling)... They say the most photographed location on Koh Samui!! But most people do not experience all that it offers.. Located about two kms south of Lamai.

Spend some time, & venture through and around the rocks... Many people just look from the view point... & ohhh that's nice... & take off, before venturing to see all that it has to offer... there is much more than the eye first sees!

It is a local "secret" that it is one of the few areas on Samui, that has a live Coral reef... But should you decide to snorkel, however please be careful & avoid using flippers so that you do not damage the coral...

"Holy Soul Shoes" work well... (coral cuts can take a long time to heal... ouch!)

Rent or bring your own mask before going, as I have never seen them for rent around the beach stores.

When in the water head out & around the rocks directly ahead of the viewing area. or from the new restaurant / Bar... Even swim through the openings to the left of the beach.... between the rocks...

If the seas have been choppy... allow a day or two for waters to become clear again! Nothing worse than not seeing where you are going in murky waters!

There a few beach bars & restaurants, plus a number of good souvenir shops...

Well worth a visit... but do spend some time there!

April May & June, are probably the best months to snorkel, but if the seas are calm anytime should be good!
Some of the coral area...
It is not a huge area, but swim st…
watch out for snorkelers!
Corals of many colours

Now next time you come to Samui, just sloooow down & "Smell the Roses"! But, I know when you are on a week or two trip, it's hard to slow down, just too many things to try and do.... you get home and need a holiday to rest! ha ha!

I have not eaten at the View point restaurants, one was knocked down & a new one rebuilt in it's place, during the summer... the old one was kinda quaint!

Progress !
