Grand Tower Inn - Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok

I stayed at the Grand Inn Hotel for my final night in Bangkok and was pleased to stay there. The locataion is perfect with interesting activities nearby, access to the Sky Train and plenty of restaurants, bars and street food to choose from.

The Hotel is a mid-priced 7 floor, 24 room hotel with post modern architecture and brightly colored rooms. Prices for rooms range from 1490 baht to 2490 baht. They call themselves a "hip" place to stay. The lobby is tiny with a narrow storefront and hallway leading back to the reception desk and a two table restaurant. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The rooms were recently renovated (in 2007)but they still have a well used, old world charm. The street outside the hotel is bustling almost 24 hours a day but the street noise is muffled by the sound of the room's airconditioner.

The location is closer to the airport than other downtown options and I found that a good way to get there is with the #3 Airport Express bus (150 baht). The bus is not able to drop you off on the correct side of the street so the driver dropped me off a couple of blocks before the hotel at a pedestrian bridge over Sukhumvit road. The hotel can arrange an airport transfer for 450 baht but it might be cheaper to go with a metered taxi. When the Sky train line is completed to the airport access will be just a few blocks from the Nana Station platform.

When I return to Bangkok someday I will no doubt return to stay at the Grand Inn Hotel.
