Grand Ole Creamery Saint Paul Reviews
One of the top 10 ice cream places in the USA Aug 13, 2008
Grand Ole Creamery has been around for a little over 20 years and is a favorite among those living in the twin cities area. It has also won a ton of awards over the many years as being one of the top ten ice cream places in the country!
Jada and I showed up and there was a pletherful of people sitting at the tables outside and on the stoops. Then when we walked in the building the line was going to almost out the door as the 4 employees were hustling to get the orders for their customers.
According to their web site they have over 200 ice cream flavors they cycle through... 31 are available when going to visit it. Tonight we tried 3 flavors, the Birthday cake, Strawberry Cheese Cake and Apple Pie. My first experience with birthday cake flavor was with Turkey Hill in Pennsylvania and it was so delicious that I was trying to find a place out here that could replicate it but sadly even though Grand Ole Creamery is awesome... Turkey hills is better. But what impressed me was the Strawberry cheese cake... it was like a celebration in your mouth and the apple pie which tasted like cinnamon apples (and yes it did have actual apple chunks in the ice cream).
But don't worry if you can't decide on a flavor...because they all looked so good... you can try it out before you buy! Also, the waffle cones are hand made... you can see the presses when you enter into the creamery! And when Jada was eating his he was wondering why the ice cream wasn't leaking out the bottom... it doesn't because they put a malted milk ball in the bottom for an added surprise with a purpose!
PS... if you drive there with your GPS unit instead of saying Ole like 'Ol it will say it with a spanish accent... like Ole when you do a mexican dance! LOL!!! Made me laugh!
