Affordable, on the beach, with various tastes May 18, 2009
I stayed at the Oasis Cancun with 15 friends of twenty-something age. We each booked an all-inclusive package deal through Apple Vacations for ~$1200 USD per person for seven nights. The package included flight tickets, round-trip transportation from the airport near Cancun to the hotel, and all you can eat and drink.
The rooms seemed to be built more for function than for comfort, considering their size and quality. The beds and cleaning room service were of top quality, while the shower could have been improved upon because of intermittent warm water availability and the cable worked only half of our stay. Each room has its own balcony and the view from it can vary greatly depending on the location of the room. Many restaurants are accessible through the all-inclusive package and each offers its own flavor. The four of best note are the Thai/sushi, the Mediterranean/Italian, the Mexican, and the steak house restaurants. Each of these restaurants had dishes that were as close as can be to real thing, and most of the food was made fresh (i.e.- the sushi was made to order). There was also a buffet available to allow for an overall shorter meal if time is of the essence. In addition to the restaurants, there are many bars throughout the hotel and there are even several swim-to bars at the pools. Overall, the service and the staff were very friendly and very patient with language barrier (which wasn't much of a problem since the majority of the staff could speak English well). I would recommend this hotel to people of all ages since it offers a little of something for everyone. The only area in which it was lacking was night life, since most bars are closed by 11pm and the club at the hotel is not much compared to establishments in the area that are exclusively clubs. |

Great hotel...changing in May Mar 29, 2009
Stayed there in January....and it was an adult only. I hear they are changing it to family in May.
Nice hotel...not too busy. The buffet part of the hotel was in the basement so going up and down the stairs was not enjoyable. The room was nice. We upgraded to the suite on the top floor with a "jacuzzi bath" and it was not a jacuzzi...just a bath..but still fun!!! |

Pick another place to stay... Dec 06, 2008
This resort is terrible. Service is questionable, advertised restaurants either were closed totally or posted hours were reduced and advertised pool activities didn't exist. Wosre was the fact that they "falsified" alchol. Jim Beam bottles did not contain Beam, Bacardi was not Bacardi and even draft Corona was not Corona. When questioned, management lied and disputed facts - even when shown straight drinks from Beam bottles from 3 different locations in the resort were different color and differnt tastes - and none were Beam. The management seems corrupt, non-caring and obviously does not care about customer satisfaction. Definitely do not stay here. I travel over 50+ days per yaer and this is the worst place I have stayed in years. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!

Stayed here for spring break in March '07. MTV was there filming and American Eagle was handing out massive amounts of free stuff. The hotel was definitely worth it. We paid for all-inclusive and the food actually wasn't that bad. I would recommend doing lunch/dinner at the sushi bar in the pool area because it was surprisingly really good and not the same old hamburgers/hot dogs/fries offer for every other meal. The pool is gorgeous and runs throughout the entire resort. The rooms were clean and the bed wasn't too bad. We were hoping for two doubles but ended up in one king size bed but it wasn't really that bad. Each room has a balcony which was a plus. It's a short cab ride down to where all of the bars are. If you're offered the extra package by the people who stake out the front of the hotel, be weary of taking it. We paid an extra $250 for a 5 day party pass and probably only used it twice (though we did get to see Fergie perform at one of the clubs because of it). It did come with a day excursion to Islas Mujeres which was totally worth it to go snorkeling. Overall, I would recommend this place for spring breakers and even families as long as it's not during the typical spring break (the party is 24/7 and by the last day it was a little annoying because our room was in the main building and the lobby bar was always packed with loud people until the wee hours).
