Grand Metropark Yuantong Hotel Beijing Feb 26, 2012
Grand Metropark Yuantong Hotel Beijing, though listed as a five stars, but I will give it 4 stars due to the service level. It is a small chain hotel operated by Hong Kong company. Grand Metro Park Yuantong is considered one of the best among the chains.

Location:

The hotel is located right beside Gong Che Zhuang Metro Station, next to Mei Lang Fang Theater. So if you take a taxi, you can tell the driver this 2 names, and you will reach your hotel easily.

Try exploring down the streets and you should be able to find a few small eatery there.

The road in Beijing is well known for traffic jam. My local business associate told me that Grand Metro Park Yuantong is located on a bus/central area, so driving to/fro to the hotel might takes quite some time, so metro will be a better route during peak hours, otherwise, be prepared to stuck in the car for 2 hours with just a mere distance.

Room:

I have booked a Lady’s Room, which is under the executive category which Im going to rave most in this review. Being an executive room, it was spacious and well decorated. And good news for lady and couples in honeymoon, you can have the option to choose the Lady’s Room theme, which was not only stylishly decorated, it has a big Jacuzzi bathtub in the room (not toilet). The room was located on the high levels, with city view.

There is also a lot of other benefit that comes with the executive room package. You can opt to have your breakfast at the main café with everyone else, or there is also similar breakfast buffet that is served at the executive lounge level, which you can have your breakfast in peace. There is almost no one dining there, as this is open to executive and suite guests exclusively.

In addition, you can also invite business associates to your hotel and make use the executive lounge for meetings. Drinks and light snacks are served without any additional cost. There is also a workstation with internet access and printing services available too (with cost), otherwise you can use your own lappy with their wireless. The executive lounge is so peaceful that I love to chill out there.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, you can check in/out your hotel at the executive lounge too, esp when there is a queue at the frontdesk.

Other than the dining, the executive room also offers free unlimited local calls, and pressing of a set of clothes per day. These value added service area great advantage for a business traveller like me, and also what attracts me to this hotel too.

Service:

Everything will be perfect if service can be improved.

Firstly, the hotel entrance is slightly blocked off, so hailing a taxi is difficult, and unlike other hotel, there are no staffs to assist you in that. It doesn’t help any further when getting a taxi in Beijing are a big headache with the locals hijacking your cabbies. Upon arrival, there is a concierge counter located on 1st level, but they will not offer any help with the luggage. And to make matter worse, the front desk is located at the 2nd level, which I have to clumsily push my luggage through the lift or escalator, not to mention my room too.

As I reach the hotel in the middle of the night, the light at the room corridor was very dim. To save on electricity (which is common in China), the lights are switch off at a certain timing, and left only a small amount of dim light shining on the room door no. Since there wasn’t any porter to bring me to my room, I had a tough time looking out for the right room and figuring how to open my door and switch.

Bed:

Beds in China are typically firm (or hard), however, the bed for this is exceptionally big, soft and comfy. There are various lightings and chandellier on the celining which gives you a very good night sleep. I can almost idle my time away in the bed than go out have some fun.
ink room with great lightings and …
Room with desk and sofa
