Grand Lapa Macau Reviews
Perfect for a special occasion Mar 27, 2017
We recently visited the Grand Lapa to celebrate my husband's birthday. This was our third visit to this hotel.
To get to the hotel you can take the hotel shuttle from the Macau Ferry Terminal or jump on the more frequent Sands shuttle as the Sands Hotel is right next door. It is also possible to walk from the Macau ferry terminal to the hotel in around 15 minutes. If you arrive at the Taipa Ferry Terminal instead, take the Sands shuttle bus to Sands Macau to reach this hotel.
Check in at the hotel was friendly and efficient. On our previous two visits we got a free upgrade on check in and ended up with a room with a balcony and a view over the pool area and towards the sea. This time we were not so lucky; our room had no balcony and faced the street. However, it was still very nice.
Our room had a comfortable king sized bed, a fridge/minibar, tea coffee making facilities, a safe, a TV with a wide selection of channels and free wifi.
Our bathroom had a bath and a shower. Free toiletries provided included shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
Our main reason for coming to the Grand Lapa is its lovely swimming pool. This outdoor pool is heated so stays open all winter. We love to come here when the outdoor pool we use in Hong Kong is closed. The pool has fake waterfalls and a slide for the kids. It is set in beautiful gardens and there is a Jacuzzi with three waterfalls right next to it.
This hotel is a five star hotel so it is expensive. We generally look for good deals before we will stay here. This hotel has several restaurants. We generally eat in its bar on the second floor. We usually have a plate of traditional Macanese starters - the cod cakes are especially nice. At the moment you get a 20 per cent discount if you charge food and drink to your room. The bar has live entertainment on Friday nights.
There is a lovely looking restaurant next to the pool too, but we have not eaten in it. We have also not tried breakfst at the hotel.
Check out is also fast and efficient. We hope to stay here many more times.

So-So Hotel accommodation Jun 28, 2011
I went to this place with my family - the reason that we got this place was because the plan to Macau was a "spur of a moment thing" and the organizer just booked it at the pier with the ferry ticket.
We figured that we would go for it coz the other large and more well-known ones were all booked up.
We thought we were going to get two beds inside but after we arrived, all we got was a super large big bed, but that doesn't really helped us much as we had 4 adults in this group. We spent a lot of time out anyways so no one really cared that much.
However, after entertainment, we all went back and found that there wasn't enough space for all of us. While I was resting and thinking a resolution, I sat on the couch, but after a while, I found I was bitten by some kind of insects (not sure if that was mosquitoes or other bugs). Anyhow, I didn't feel that the fabics there were clean or new enough, so there might be some germs.
As a matter of fact,I heard from other ppl in Macau that this hotel used to be a 6-star hotel in Macau before all the Las Vegas ones coming in. Now that the ownership has changed, I am not sure that was the reason for the compromise of the quality...
One good thing about it was the staff there were very friendly, which is a plus.
The food in the casino was terrible and of a sky-rocketing price though.
