Grand Hyatt Union Square Reviews
Great location but not worth the full price. Sep 07, 2008
Great location in union district but I would not have stayed here if I hadn't booked on Priceline and gotten an amazing price. There was no pool or jacuzzi though. The desk staff were not very helpful when I asked them different questions. For example, when I was speaking with the room reservation staff, I asked them what type of room they would recommend, either "city view" or "water view". She would not help me with the description and very much sounded like I was wasting her time. I picked "city view" and that turned out to be a big waste. If she would have told me that she was booking me for a "west city view" room, one that faced a giant building and in which you could see nothing else, I would have went with the "water view". Also, when we asked the front desk how to get to the mission district, he told us to get on the Muni and it should have been the BART. If he really didn't know, he shouldn't have told us, also he should know the general directions to the different districts since he is at the front desk and I'm sure we couldn't have been the only ones who ever asked how to get somewhere. Also, once we figured it out, it is really simple and it shouldn't have been hard for him to know simple areas since he lived there. Overall, I liked the price we paid at Priceline, but I would never book it willingly and pay the price they want. There are other hotels in the same area that I'm sure are better. Oh, and unless you want to pay $55 per day for their parking, leave your bags and park yourself down the street in the garage for about $35 total for a weekend.

I do enjoy the location. It is close to a BART station, right off Union Square, close to Market street, close to Chinatown. It is on Stockton and Sutter and the room that I had had a GREAT view of Union Square. The room I had was pretty big and spacious. The service overall was pretty good. My only gripe, which is quite a big one, is that the bed was horrid! There were huge indentations on both sides of the bed and unfortunately, because I came during a busy weekend, I could not get another room. I could not sleep. But for that, I would give this hotel a better review.
