The Jerome Grand Hotel is a Spanish Mission Style building and was constructed in 1926. The original purpose for this hotel was for a hospital called the United Verde Hospital. When it opened in 1927 it was considered to be the "most modern and well equipped hospital in Arizona and possibly the Western United States." In 1950 the hotel was closed as Jerome was being phased out as a mining town and for the next 44 years it was not used. In 1994 by the Altherr Family and they started the rehabilitation process.

According to their web page. "Having been closed for 44 years, there had been no changes to the original building except for the enclosure of the roof top deck in 1929, The building has withstood the tests of blasting as well as the tests of time. This has to be one of the best preserved buildings in Arizona and extreme measures have been used to protect the interior and exterior integrity."

As I was there the hotel was very creepy from the outside. It stood up on the hill of Jerome staring down at the tows people. My family and I went inside around 7PM to check in and the woman at the desk was very friendly. They only had one more room left because of the snow people couldn't leave and they were stranded in Jerome. As we were checking in a woman and her kids came in and told us we were going to have a fabulous time! She said that the night before they experience paranormal activities. My uncle and I got excited while my aunt and cousin got nervous.

The delux room for 4 was two room connected together by a bathroom. I shared with my cousin. During the night she pushed me to get the remote for the TV...she said she was scare. I told her if she didn't believe then nothing would happen...she continued to be spooked the rest of the night. Sadly we did not get to see any ghostly activity.

The hotel was very large and they had antiqued furniture and restroom facilities in it. The elevator had to be operated by the room key and all the sinks had two spickets in them...one was for hot water and the other was for cold water so the water didn't blend together to get used.

If you are in Arizona and want to see a old classic town I would recommend going to Jerome Arizona. The towns people are friendly, the food is good, and who know, you may just see a ghost or two!!!
